Making Connections gives students the unique opportunity to investigate the intricacies of the human brain and the complexities of the behaviours that it evokes. The aim of the contest is to allow the students to expand their knowledge about the topic, as well as go beyond textbooks and harness their artistic prowess.
A SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL OF OUR PARTICIPANTS!
Our Inspiration
In January of 2010, Nikki Randhawa, Navi Dharampal & Persia Pourshahnazari organized a competition for the second year medical/dental class. This competition allowed students to use their knowledge, creativity, and imagination to create visual art projects inspired by aspects of Brain and Behaviour. A similar competition, Heartfelt Images, started by Dr. Courneya (but this time in relation to the Cardiovascular System) was the phenomenal project which sparked the idea for Making Connections. The Making Connections contest is now organized annually by members of the Student Interest Group in Neurology.
Making it Happen
Various professors and residents in the Faculty of Medicine and members of the Vancouver community have dedicated time to act as judges for this competition. Judging is based on creativity, relevance to Neurology/Psychiatry, and technical skill. We thank them and the amazing generosity of our sponsors in making this competition come together!
